Pay Range: Actual pay may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for incentive compensation.

Job Summary

As a Product Manager at Sorenson Communications you will be responsible for guiding product development efforts for video relay products and services. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time with customers to understand their problems and find innovative solutions for the broader market. You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with executive management to champion product strategies and match them to company goals. You will work with engineering to define product requirements. You will work with marketing and sales to define the go-to-market strategy. It is critical that you help each understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal evangelist for your products, and may occasionally work with sales as an external evangelist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities such as writing requirements and measuring product performance.
  • Take personal ownership for key Sorenson products.
  • Complete interviews and surveys of customers to understand market needs.
  • Perform and document market analysis by identifying customer problems and opportunities; assessing key technologies and researching competitors.
  • Evaluate competitive products and publish reports on strengths and weaknesses.
  • Specify product requirements for current and future products by conducting customer and noncustomer market research.
  • Create business justification documents as well as detailed requirements and product performance measurements.
  • Drive a solution set across development teams through product requirements and positioning.
  • Manage conflict and create an environment of trust and respect while maintaining an optimistic and good attitude.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

    Travel Requirements

    Travel Requirements: Less than 25%

    Education

    Must be Fluent in American Sign Language.

    4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Management, or Business Development a plus

    Experience

    5 years experience working with customers who primarily use American Sign Language to communicate.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Fluent in American Sign Language.
    • 5+ years working with customers who primarily use American Sign Language to communicate.
    • A demonstrable track record of defining and executing complex strategies.
    • Professional experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
    • Excellent English writing skills with ability to quickly write clear and easy to understand product requirements documents.
    • Understanding of statistics and math required to analyze survey and test results.
    • Pragmatic Marketing training and user-centered design experience a plus.
    • Positive attitude and team player.
