ABOUT THE ROLE
The Director of Safety Operations manages a departmental sub-function within MYR Group's Corporate Safety Department. Creates strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops people, policies, and procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Directs and oversees safety programs and standards to reduce potential accidents and injury. Manages Regional Managers and Safety Managers within their regions. Essential Functions
- Create and maintain a high performing team that supports MYR Operational Groups in all areas of Safety
- Consistently communicates with Operations Management to understand and respond to their needs
- Establish a portfolio of safety programs and plans to support the key customers of the specific business units that align with the MYR and customer safety requirements
- Establishes guidelines governing the collection and maintenance of employee training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation
- Audits processes to identify weaknesses or risks and proactively develops and implements corrective actions; ensures appropriate investigation of and response to accidents or injuries
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, or local statutes or regulations including OSHA
- Enforces organizational safety programs and policies that are meant to prevent injuries, fires, or other workplace accidents
- Directs the identification and mitigation of potential safety hazards, the development and delivery of safety training programs educating employees on safe working practices, appropriate equipment operation, and emergency procedures, or the investigation of accidents and incident
- Ensures development plans are in place for Safety Managers and Safety Specialists
- Ensure Districts have adequate safety staffing
- Works as a liaison with Districts and Legal during designated accident investigation
- Coordinates support during SAT investigations
- Leads and directs the work of other employees and has authority for personnel decisions in conjunction with the business unit leadership
- Ensures compliance with internal safety policies and federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Administers departmental policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and directs the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies
- Collaborates with senior leaders to align departmental strategy or direction with the overall goals of the organization
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location
- Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards

ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in occupational safety and health operations in the T&D industry, including 5 years of management experience
- Safety-related Certification such as CSP, CIH, CHST, CUSP, etc. preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Construction Management, or related field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of transmission and distribution electrical construction
- In-depth understanding of occupational safety and health concepts and principles
- Excellent analytical and observation skills
- Advanced knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations related to safety and occupational health
- Advanced leadership and communication skills
- Must be able to work under high pressure conditions and in emergencies
- Proven ability to drive strategic direction
- Proven decision-making and planning skills
- Detail orientation and analytical aptitude
