Under the direction of and reporting to the Sanitation Supervisor/Manager perform assigned and scheduled cleaning, and sanitation work in all sections of plant production facilities including machinery, equipment, floors, walls, and ceiling to WDA, USDA standards, and Sargento Policies and Procedures.

Shift: 3rd shift Monday through Friday, 10:30pm-6:30am

What You Do.




  • Dismantling of some sections of machinery and equipment so that they can be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to WDA and USDA standards.



  • Perform Sanitation responsibilities as needed on your shift which requires the use of cleaning chemicals and specialized cleaning equipment to remove debris from machines, equipment, conveyors, floors, walls, tables, etc...



  • Remove all waste and debris from plant area and empty into compactor.



  • Use power floor scrubber, wet/dry vacuums and pressure hoses to clean floors.



  • Visually check facilities, equipment, tables, floors, etc... to ensure GMP standards are met



  • Assure that quality and quantity of work produced is acceptable to the company standards.



  • Ability to recognize food safety concerns throughout cleaning/sanitation process and to report these concerns to the Sanitation Supervisor, Production Manager or Sanitation Manager.



  • Demonstrate good communication skills and be respectful of others.



  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion.



  • Follow all GMP's as required by the plant.



  • Follow the Sargento Code of Business and Personal Ethics.



  • Regular and reliable attendance.



  • Actively able to perform essential job functions as determined by Human Resources.



  • All other duties assigned.




Your Education and Experience.



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED/HSED) required or minimally enrolled with anticipated completion in 12 months or less
  • Prior manufacturing experience is a plus


Your Qualifications.



  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn and carry out lock out tag out procedures as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, stand, and walk constantly.
  • Ability to push/pull occasionally.
  • Ability to meet attendance and punctuality standards.

Sargento is a refrigerated food production facility and the ability to work in a cold environment is a necessity. Machinery, moving mechanical parts, and robotics are used during production, so the work environment is usually loud. During sanitation work, you may be exposed to wet, humid, damp conditions.
