  • Base Pay Range: $23.66 - $37.66 per hour, based on experience



ABOUT THE JOB

The Accountant I supports the finance department by assisting with various accounting tasks, including maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulations. The accountant will work closely with other finance team members to ensure efficient financial operations, support month-end closing activities, and provide data for audits and financial reviews.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Prepare and review accounting transactions and reports. Assist in the maintenance of the university's accounting system. May recommend and implement changes in accounting policies and procedures.

Assist with preparing and entering journal entries, research information, collect data, and prepare analyses/reports (e.g., data, budget, billing, purchasing).

Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, fiscal year-end financial statements, and internal reports.

Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including invoices, receipts, and statements.

Explain information to and within the team , noting improvements, efficiencies, anomalies, and other items of note to manager/supervisor and/or appropriate team member.

Help prepare for annual audits by gathering and organizing required financial documents.

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and other regulatory standards.

May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

One (1) year of experience in accounting, finance, or a related area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience in a healthcare or hospital finance setting.

Strong understanding of hospital financial operations and billing processes.

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
