Clariant is seeking a strategic and results-driven Business Development Manager to accelerate growth within our Industrial Applications business, with a primary focus on the Paints and Coatings market. In this high-impact role, you will lead commercial efforts, develop new business opportunities, and drive market expansion by delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. This position offers a high level of autonomy, cross-functional collaboration, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic market. Responsibilities

* Lead commercial efforts for Clariant's Paints and Coatings product portfolio within North America, targeting new and existing customers in architectural, industrial, and specialty coatings markets
* Identify and develop new business opportunities, assess market trends, and execute strategic plans to penetrate target segments and increase market share
* Build and manage strong customer relationships, serving as the primary contact to understand needs, present tailored solutions, and ensure long-term satisfaction
* Collaborate with Clariant's technical and R&D teams to support customer formulation challenges, co-develop new applications, and provide technical presentations and troubleshooting
* Translate market insights into actionable product positioning, pricing strategies, and promotional activities in alignment with global business objectives
* Maintain a robust opportunity pipeline in the CRM system; manage forecasts, track progress, and ensure alignment with growth targets
* Coordinate internal resources across supply chain, customer service, and operations to ensure flawless execution of customer projects and product deliveries
* Monitor competitive activity, customer feedback, and industry trends to anticipate changes and shape future innovation needs
* Manage pricing and contract negotiations, ensuring profitable growth while delivering value to the customer
* Support accurate demand forecasting, inventory planning, and collections as part of account ownership



Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or coatings-specific technical training is a plus
* 8-10 years of experience in business development, technical sales, or key account management within the paints and coatings industry

* In-depth knowledge of coating technologies, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape across decorative, industrial, or protective segments
* Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
* Proficient in CRM tools, Microsoft Office, and data analysis platforms to manage sales activities and reporting
* Willingness to travel regularly (domestically, and occasionally internationally) to meet with customers and internal teams
