Summary of Job Duties:The Lab and Pathology Service Line Clinical Lab Manager for the Reference Laboratory and OPC-CIBD Phlebotomy Laboratories is responsible for a broad range of activities that are critical to the functioning of the service line. The objective of the manager is to ensure oversight of the services and ensure there is support to the senior manager, division director, section director, CLIA lab director and laboratory director within the core laboratory. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in medical sciences, medical technology, biology, chemistry, or other ASCP approved discipline

  • plus five (5) years of laboratory experience required with 2 years general supervisory experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), developed training and executed for laboratory instrumentation and/or processes, develop SOPs, served as point person during regulatory inspection (CAP, CLIA, JCAHO, etc), worked with inventory control (ordering, receiving, maintaining supplies)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master Degree (MBA, MSOM, MHA, MLS or other applicable Master Degrees).
  • 5 years supervisory experience
  • ASCP or equivalent
  • Knowledge in Client Services/Customer Service, Lab Support, Reference, Phlebotomy services, Epic IT, Beaker, New Test Set up and Knowledge of building a Clinical Lab Fee Schedule

  • This oversight insures that day to day operations go smoothly and that information that enhances integration and communications is shared and exchanged.
  • The manager position requires a wide degree of judgement to successfully enact his/her duties.
  • The manager must be an analytical thinker while setting goals, prioritizing competing demands and managing supervisor tasks while communicating with all levels of leadership.
  • Must demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills by maintaining good working relationships with all programs and divisions within the department and LPS.
  • Additionally, the manager must make effective use of the organizations resources.
  • The manager is required to demonstrate complex problem-solving skills by anticipating, analyzing, interpreting and solving problems within accordance with the mission and goals of the Lab and Pathology Service Line and the broader institution.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive strategic and personnel related information.
  • Must maintain frequent and timely communication with collection and clinic staff regarding schedule changes and ensure flow of information to appropriate laboratory staff.
  • The purpose of the manager is to oversee and ensure all approved policies and procedures are implemented and are followed. Oversee proper documentation, investigation and quality assurance, corrective actions and timely implementation.
