The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will own significant scopes of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) design capabilities, EGSE functional test and support EGSE deployment on spacecraft test campaign efforts for various space vehicles. This includes coordinating with internal entities such as the various avionics product owners, coordinating with external entities such as customers, and supporting EGSE deployments to the various Blue Ring test teams. In a fast-paced, dynamic environment, you will architect the EGSE design, develop/release electrical/mechanical engineering drawings, manufacture/test EGSE racks, and write/release software for EGSE products. You will lead elements of EGSE deployment during vehicle integration all the way through final testing in preparation for launch.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the planning, architecture, drafting, and release of the resources vital to deliver the EGSE hardware to test venues.
  • Coordinate with design engineer subject matter experts across each affected system under avionics to integrate the identified system verification requirements into the EGSE design for the development risk reduction and/or verification run for record event as appropriate.
  • Conduct EGSE design reviews, integration readiness reviews, and test readiness reviews for your EGSE products.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate cost, schedule, and technical risks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of working with support equipment hardware, flight and safety-critical hardware, electrical troubleshooting equipment, and shop equipment.
  • Previous experience with missile/spacecraft/satellite EGSE development, and/or hardware/software ownership (responsible engineer).
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area.
  • Direct experience developing schematic drawings, developing electrical support equipment packaging drawings, writing support equipment scripts and/or integrating COTS test equipment into a system of systems to support flight article testing and/or development laboratory testing
  • Experience drafting electrical and/or mechanical drawings in VISIO
  • Experience with analytical and scripting tools: MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, C++
  • Hands-on experience drafting and releasing engineering drawings
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and technical requirements.
  • Ability to perform data analysis and reduction and present technical information in a clear and compelling visual format.
  • Strong safety demeanor and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on testing experience with flight hardware
  • Hands-on experience creating content for support equipment design reviews and/or leading design review discussions with technical peers
  • Experience implementing missile/spacecraft/satellite grounding methods for support equipment
  • Experience developing support equipment missile/spacecraft/satellite command/control systems, RF telemetry systems, power systems, and/or battery management systems
  • Experience manufacturing support equipment racks
  • Experience coordinating deliverables from external manufacturing teams for harnessing and/or custom support equipment assembly designs
  • Experience with requirements development/management tools; DOORS, DOORS Next Gen, and lifecycle management (PLM) and/or data, Windchill.
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining support equipment software
  • TS/SCI security clearance.
