Summary
Performs a variety of histology-related clerical and technical duties under close supervision. Reports to a Laboratory Supervisor. Responsibilities include preparing and distributing histology slides and blocks, maintaining lab equipment, managing reagents and inventory, and assisting in daily workflow within Histology, IHC, and SPU labs.

Essential Functions
Print worklists and assist with prioritizing daily workflow.
Distribute and file tissue blocks and slides; ensure accurate labeling.
Assist with IHC lab duties, including slide unloading and coverslipping.
Monitor and stock reagents; document lot numbers in the online system.
Set up stainers, frozen lab, and reagents following SOPs.
Assist with LIS system tasks and daily error log review.
Perform routine lab maintenance and support equipment cleaning.
Coordinate send-out testing and communicate testing delays to senior staff.
Be flexible with schedule, including after-hours and weekend coverage.
Demonstrate initiative in learning next steps in the lab workflow.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials
Experience
Previous laboratory, healthcare and/or customer service experience 1-2 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Good interpersonal and communication skills so as to be able to interact effectively with individuals in the lab and the hospital.
- Ability to multitask and work accurately under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands.
- Demonstrates excellent dependability, reliability, accuracy, prioritization ability, problem solving skills, customer service and teamwork.
