Overview

VTG is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Dahlgren, VA, to provide Systems Engineering and Integration in support of the Integrated Combat System and Aegis Weapon System programs under Department of the Navy. This is a mostly onsite role with limited telework capability.


What will you do?

  • Provide systems engineering and technical support to development and in service systems.
  • Develop, review, and assess systems engineering artifacts.
  • Perform risk assessments and analysis, identify risks and develop mitigation plans for identified cost, schedule, and technical issues.
  • Prepare technical presentations, briefings, and papers to communicate status, risks, and schedules of assigned programs.
  • Develop, review, and support integration test plans and procedures.
  • Support the identification, tracking, and resolution of systems engineering issues related to technical interfaces, technology insertion/design improvements, and other program initiatives.
  • Support combat system level requirements development to include requirements definition/review, architecture inputs, baseline definitions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across organizations in furtherance of assigned program.
  • Utilize Model Based Systems Engineering techniques/tools.
  • Provide assessments and recommendations on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.

Do you have what it takes?

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 15 years of Surface Navy Combat Systems engineering experience.
  • Experience in combat systems integration, operations, and systems engineering in such programs as Aegis Combat and Weapon Systems.
  • Experience in electro-optical/infrared technologies.
  • Familiarity with the concepts and principles of Model Based Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must have active DoD Secret level clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong customer communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with some guidance.
