This position is located in Ft. Meade, Maryland. The core working hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The hourly wage is $42.68. This is a non-exempt position. Employees are eligible for overtime pay. This is a full time position offering a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. INTRODUCTION The Electrician, Maintenance II performs skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with electrical systems. Electrical work may be performed in a number of areas, including heating, refrigeration, motors, fire alarms, and generator equipment. Work involves technical application of electrical principles at the United States Army, Ft. Meade. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES *1. Analyzes blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems. *2. Inspects electrical systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance. *3. Repairs electrical components and/or systems (e.g. motors, circuits, transformers, generators, compressors, switches, intercom systems, cafeteria kitchen equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe working condition. *4. Diagnoses causes of electrical problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair. *5. Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to National Electrical Code Requirements and reports back to supervisor. *6. Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair. 7. Perform all other duties as assigned. *Essential Functions SUPERVISION EXERCISED None. SUPERVISION RECEIVED The incumbent is supervised by the Operations and Maintenance Manager. PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS The incumbent must be able to sit 50% of the work time and stand 50%, Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds. Seeing and depth perception are required in order to perform thorough inspections. QUALIFICATIONS Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent with 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Must have a Journeyman or Master Electrician license. Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
