More about the role

This is an exciting job opportunity for a Lead Development Engineer / Engineering SME (Subject Matter Expert), in Aurora, Colorado, with Cooper Lighting Solutions, a business unit of Signify, the world leader in lighting.

Design lighting fixtures to meet or exceed customer expectations, product performance, regulatory requirements and aesthetic benchmarks.

  • Product design, part detailing, and prototype procurement for LED luminaires from preliminary concept through implementation into manufacturing.

  • Work on both new product concepts as well as refinements on existing product lines.

  • Prototype assembly and testing for new products and design improvements.

  • Design and implement standard and custom product, mounting, and options aligned with Cooper Lighting Solutions engineering and safety standards.

  • Work with stakeholders to ensure final product design meets photometric, cosmetic, optical, electrical, mechanical, cost, safety and options requirements.

  • Lead meetings, design reviews and tollgate reviews on product development with an emphasis on safety, quality, budget and schedule.

  • Accurately create Bill of Materials (BOMs), drawings, and instructions for vendors and manufacturing; maintain all product documentation in Enterprise Systems.

  • Assist in training key Assembly, Planning, Sales, Customer Service and Purchasing personnel on new product introductions.

More about you

While we value and appreciate all applicants, we believe that the following experience and skills will be needed to shine brightly in this job opening:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial design, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related

  • 5+ years' work experience in new product development, sustaining, or manufacturing

  • Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software

  • Experience in injection molding, extrusion, die casting and rapid prototyping highly preferred

  • Salary: $ 121,300.00 - 177,980annually based on experience

  • Bonus:target bonus opportunity - 15%
