Required Skills & Experience:



  • 5+ years' experience in controls and instrumentation for automated assembly equipment
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley ControlLogix), HMI programming, and machine vision systems (Cognex, Keyence)
  • Proficient with VFDs, servo drives, motion control, PID loops, and process control
  • Hands-on experience with wiring, troubleshooting, and repairing automation equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Experience with SQL Server databases and Visual Basic programming a plus
  • Familiarity with machine safety standards (NFPA 79/70E) and cleanroom environments
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication, training, and teamwork abilities


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree or Engineering Technician diploma
  • Electrical license
  • Experience with RSLogix Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, ABB Robot Studio, B&R Automation, Cognex DataMan, and industrial networking
  • Background in start-up manufacturing environments and continuous improvement



Position Summary:

You'll play a key role in launching new manufacturing operations and supporting the installation, maintenance, and optimization of complex automated assembly and process equipment. This hands-on position focuses on maximizing machine uptime, minimizing production scrap, and driving continuous improvement in a high-tech, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Automation & Controls Support: Install, program, and troubleshoot PLCs (Rockwell ControlLogix), HMIs, vision systems (Cognex, Keyence), and industrial networks for discrete component assembly equipment.
  • Instrumentation Maintenance: Calibrate, maintain, and repair process instruments, lasers, optical gaging devices, and inspection systems to ensure precision and reliability.
  • Machine Startup & Commissioning: Lead onsite equipment installation, startup, qualification, and debug of new automation, including acceptance testing at machine builder facilities.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze equipment performance, identify root causes of downtime or scrap, and implement process improvements using Six Sigma, Lean, and TPM methodologies.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for plant equipment, ensuring cGMP compliance and maximum operational efficiency.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain detailed records in maintenance databases; write and update SOPs for equipment setup, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to support machine setup, training, and troubleshooting. Train operators and technicians on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work meets NFPA 79/70E, OSHA, and company safety standards. Report and address safety, quality, and regulatory issues promptly.



Shift and Pay Details



  • Week 1 | Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday + Every other Sunday (6 PM - 6:30 AM)
  • Week 2 | Thursday, Friday, Saturday + Every other Sunday (6 PM - 6:30 AM)
  • Rotate every 3 months
  • Pay | $30 - $45 per hour
