Job Summary

Supervises inpatient food service operations and assists with work activities to ensure high quality food service and efficient operations. Responsible for food service activities performed by employees in area.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises employees in the service of food for patients. Maintains discipline through the adherence of our core values and of all hospital and department rules and regulations.

  • Responsible for all patient diet orders, stocking of food and nonfood items for the floors and maintaining a clean service area.

  • Checks and records food temperatures. Supervises scheduling, training, employee reviews, nutrition accuracy.

  • Oversees relationship with food and nutrition for patients and families, hospital staff and the community. This includes management of food and nutrition services staff in providing patient diet preferences, information, and consultation from staff for implementation of quality nutritional care.

  • Attends educational meetings.

  • Meets with and provides assistance to staff of registered dietitians.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a supervisor job which may have direct supervision of team members which may include hire/termination authority, disciplinary authority, and performance management responsibilities.May have budget input or responsibilities. Job is not considered a member of management staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - High School or equivalent

  • Experience - Three (3) years food service experience. Experience in hospital or similar setting preferred

  • Certified Dietary Manager preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of office equipment

  • Mathematical skills

  • Verbal and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge of Lotus Notesand Microsoft Office

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Ability to make decisions daily and meet timelines

  • Ability to maintain clean work areas.
