Job Summary

Employees at this level work under close supervision of a designated supervisor and are mid-level specialists who receive training on specific data processing products. They receive direct supervision on issues relating to procedures and standards relevant to the products for which they are responsible and the operating environment in which they function.

The Computer Operator II performs standardized or prescribed assignments, involving a sequence of related operations. Follows standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments; technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non routine work may also be reviewed in process.

As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), staying focused on the assigned tasks, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work that includes the collection, reproduction, handling, distribution and archival of mission data and documentation
  • Will interface with a variety of personnel at all levels and across various departments
  • Fields data-related questions and assists with customer-required process reviews
  • Will manage the timely receipt of mission related data products
  • Demonstrate the ability to receive, verify, and reproduce test event data items per the established plans
  • Collect/verify/sort/log/reduce/process/distribute/store physical and electronic data products
  • Perform daily Data Transfer Agent (DTA) transfers between recording media and the T&E DB
  • Provide timely distribution of BMD test event data and information to the Aegis BMD technical community
  • Upgrade and maintain BMD data management information systems hardware and software for servers, workstations, networks, and other systems
  • Effectively and efficiently manage large data files and determine the best transfer, compression, and storage methodology
  • Submit shipping requests in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Create shipping labels based off information received from customer on DD1149
  • Track shipments from origin to delivery through ERP and shipper website
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures for evolving processes
  • Support physical transfer of sensitive data acting as the courier

Basic Qualifications

  • Detail-Oriented and able to concentrate for long periods of time
  • One or more years of experience in a data management capacity within a data processing work environment
  • Able to work according to schedule and communicate efficiently and effectively with supervisors and co-workers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with supply chain processes, to include but not limited to inventory and warehouse management
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be a U.S Citizen
  • DoD Secret Clearance required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions
  • Occasional travel (10%) is required to provide on-site data management support for work groups, meetings and test event execution.

  • Knowledge of U.S Navy shipboard protocol.
