Position Summary
This position in the laboratory of Dr. Lei Zhang (www.leizhanglab.org) in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Georgia focuses on geroscience-guided drug discovery to develop therapeutic strategies to extend health span and treat age-related diseases. It plays a crucial role in conducting experimental research, analyzing and documenting results, and assists in training students in standard laboratory protocols.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Possess extensive experience in laboratory research, particularly focused on expertise in lab equipment, biosafety, radiation safety, and maintaining lab protocols.

Experimental Research

  • Independently design, plan, and conduct experiments in drug screening, cell culture, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, and in vivo studies in mice.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot experimental procedures, adapt protocols as needed, and implement methodological improvements.
  • Interpret results and propose next steps or alternative approaches to advance research goals.
  • Maintain awareness of current literature relevant to ongoing projects and integrate findings into experimental design.

  • Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical or computational tools.
