DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Senior Applications Developer assists in the management of highly complex PennDOT-developed mobile applications that utilize Swift coding, Java web services and SQL Server. These applications support mission critical program areas with the Department of Transportation. The incumbent serves as an IT application manager for large, highly-complex, distributed enterprise applications. You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the design and implementation to support the system architectural needs and shared code frameworks that support all the mobile apps within the Delivery Center. Additional duties to include but not limited to:
- Maintaining effective working relationships with project and application stakeholders
- Serving as liaison between application stakeholders and IT resources
- Serving as the primary technical point of contact for the assigned applications
- Developing and maintaining project plans for large, complex software development projects
- Actively managing software development projects
- Serving as a team leader of both PennDOT and contractor team members on software development and maintenance activities

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Two days (required) per week in office minimum. May be eligible to telework up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Applications Developer 2 or Computer Programmer 4; (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- or
- Five years of information technology experience that includes three years of experience in applications development or applications maintenance; or
- Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
- One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
