Position Summary

The Christian Educator will collaborate closely with the Divisional Youth Secretaries, Program Manager, and Program Team to develop, implement, and oversee the spiritual components of the camp experience. This role includes curating biblically sound content and providing guidance and support to staff as they engage campers in spiritual growth and discipleship.

Essential Functions



  • Attend and actively participate in Staff Orientation.
  • Attend and actively participate in all Staff meetings.
  • Support Cabin Leaders in planning and sharing devotions with campers and staff.
  • Oversee and maintain biblical standards within camp program.
  • Plan and execute daily chapel services. Including: engaging activities, worship, scripture readings, and sermons.
  • Support and enforce camp policies and practices.
  • Organize engaging ways to teach campers about Christ in various aspects of the program.
  • Oversee Jesus Theater
  • Oversee and support Timothy leader.
  • Show flexibility in programming that accommodates different camp populations.
  • To work with the Program Director in developing camp programs
  • Work closely with the Program Director in developing special projects and evening programs.
  • Assist program area specialists in their areas as needed.
  • Attend and actively participate in all programs related to activities and Sunday Worship Services.
  • Promote observance of spiritual emphasis within the program and moral code affecting both campers and staff.
  • Assist with seeker input data and email to corps officers.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by the DYS and Camp Director.


PAY RATE: $68,640.00/yr.

Working Conditions

May be asked to use fire protection equipment, washers and dryers, special program and recreational equipment. May be asked to drive camp vehicles or golf carts. Should be proficient in computer skills and word processing.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Faith-based education or ministry training (preferred)
  • In-depth understanding of the Bible and ability to teach biblical truths.
  • Confident and effective in public speaking
  • Minimum 2 years camping experience
  • Ability to relate to one's peer group
  • Ability to provide supervision, mentorship, and guidance to peers
  • Ability to teach several activities
  • Good character, integrity and adaptability
  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control
  • Current CPR certified
  • Must possess leadership skills
  • Interest in and ability to work with children
  • Personal relationship and commitment to Jesus Christ


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities



  • This position requires the ability to listen to others, observe others' actions, read text and information; comprehend instructions and manuals, and physical ability to move about the camp property in various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
  • Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
  • Ability to observe staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate management techniques.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers

Qualifications
Experience
Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff. (preferred)
Current CPR certified (required)
Minimum 2 years camping experience (required)
Faith-based education or ministry training (preferred) (preferred)
