JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Penn State Baseball program is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as the Director of Pitching Technology. This role plays a critical part in supporting the overall operations of the baseball team, both on and off the field. The Director of Pitching Technology will be expected to attend practices regularly, maintain a comprehensive understanding of all team technologies, and demonstrate strong leadership by serving as the primary point of contact between the coaching staff and the team's student managers.

Responsibilities

Common responsibilities include but are NOT limited to:

  • Lead and manage a team of student managers to assist in all team related activities.
  • Communicate practice schedules, responsibilities, and expectations clearly to other managers.
  • Oversee the daily setup and tear-down of practice equipment.
  • Assist with equipment management and field maintenance.
  • Travel with the team for competitions and support all technology and operational needs on the road.
  • Organize and oversee data and video collection processes, ensuring the proper operation of technology used for player development and scouting.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the coaching staff.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively lead and coordinate a team.
  • 1 - 2 years previous experience in a similar role, preferably with athletics or baseball operations.
  • Technologically savvy with the ability to quickly learn and manage baseball-specific technologies and software platforms.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Some athletic ability is beneficial but not required.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
