Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Deputy Project Manager / Senior Technical Representative to support a cutting-edge defense acquisition program. The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of experience in program management or technical leadership roles, with proven expertise in cybersecurity and undersea warfare systems. This individual will serve as the technical authority and second-in-command, ensuring program objectives are met safely, efficiently, and within scope.



Responsibilities

    Provides technical and programmatic Information Assurance Services to internal and external customers in support of network and information security systems.
  • Designs, develops and implements security requirements within an organization's business processes.
  • Prepares documentation from information obtained from customer using accepted guidelines such as DITSCAP (DoD Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process).
  • Prepares Security Test and Evaluation plans.
  • Recommends system enhancements to improve security deficiencies.
  • Develops, tests and integrates computer and network security tools.
  • Secures system configurations and installs security tools, scans systems to determine compliancy and report results and evaluates products and various aspects of system administration.
  • Conducts security program audits and develops solutions to lessen identified risks.
  • Develops strategies to comply with privacy, risk management, and e-authentication requirements.
  • Provides information assurance support for the development and implementation of security architectures to meet new and evolving security requirements.
  • Evaluates, develops and enhances security requirements, policy and tools.
  • Assist the Program Manager in all aspects of project execution, planning, and reporting
  • Lead multidisciplinary technical teams, providing guidance and oversight in systems engineering and integration
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with DoD policies, NIST standards, and program requirements
  • Oversee and review technical documentation, acquisition deliverables, and system architectures
  • Assess and mitigate project risks, particularly those related to computer network defense and mission assurance
  • Liaise with stakeholders-including government customers, subcontractors, and vendors-to ensure alignment on technical objectives and schedules
  • Coordinate and lead technical reviews, including design, readiness, and milestone events
  • Support the development and execution of test plans, undersea warfare scenarios, and cyber-resiliency evaluations
  • Prepare and present technical briefings and status updates to senior leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 11-12 years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or DAWIA certification
  • Experience interfacing with Naval Systems Commands (NAVSEA, NAVAIR, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and/or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Prior military service or experience in the submarine defense industry, particularly undersea combat systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with undersea warfare systems (USW) such as sonar, torpedo defense, unmanned undersea vehicles, etc.
  • Expert knowledge of DoD/DoN acquisition processes and cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST 800-series)
  • Strong problem-solving, team leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Active or reinstatable SECRET security clearance


Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $113,400.00/Yr. - USD $189,300.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
