HJF is seeking an Intern whose work will involve performance of a variety of administrative and research tasks related to CGHE's Research and Knowledge Management activities.

This position will be in support of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) Center for Global Health Engagement (CGHE) which works to lead, integrate and synchronize the University's contributions to Department of Defense (DoD) global health engagement (GHE) and national security objectives by providing a hub for GHE thought leadership and knowledge, strategic communications and outreach, operational support, research, and capability integration of education, training and planning. HJF provides direct scientific, technical and programmatic support services to CGHE.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.



  • Assists the knowledge management team by providing:
  • Works directly with the knowledge management team on research and coordination activities
  • Knowledge management and organizational support: collaborates with CGHE's various coordinators to identify and fulfill coordination requirements
  • Coordination support: works with CGHE's lines of effort stakeholders to assist with knowledge management priorities
  • Administrative support for the research line of effort, as needed.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.


Education and Experience



  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) in English.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to show initiative, multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with public health, and international development issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google platforms.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a home office background check.


Physical Capabilities



  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods


Work Environment



  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.


Compensation



  • The hourly pay range for this position is $18.00-$20.00. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
