The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for an Audio Visual Engineer to support our government customer located in the Pentagon within Washington, District of Columbus.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under general direction, installs, pull, terminate, and test all audio visual (AV) type cables, connectors, and interfaces.
  • Ability to install projections screens, plasma TV's and different types of speakers.
  • Installation of AV systems on client sites.
  • Read blueprints and wire AV racks.
  • Has a thorough understanding and working knowledge of testing, analyses and corrective action on systems, networks, hardware and software in a Professional Audio/Video environment.
  • Know and understand all wire and connector types on all AV related cable.
  • Develops, sets up, tests, and maintains equipment used for videoconferencing integrated room systems and special custom projects.
  • Upgrade and configure current software and hardware already in operation.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Commercial off the Shelf AV software.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Associate of Science Degree in Engineering/Computer Science or Journeyman with three (3) experience.
  • Certified IAT Level II, IAW DoDD 8140.01 and DoD 8570.01M at time of contract initiation/on-boarding. (These requirements may (but are not required to) be waived in writing by the COR upon receipt and review of the candidate's individual resume. If waived, the individual will be required to operate at a level commensurate with the position.)

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • In-depth knowledge of installation, operation, scheduling and support of desktop and conference room VTC systems in a secure government or military environment including Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), CODECs and H.323 protocols.
  • Thorough working knowledge of AV concepts such as acoustics, lighting, aspect ratios, and font size versus distance, scan rates, video standards and transmission systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication experience to engage and support executive level customers.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Technical skills to include:

  • Audio Systems: Knowledge of microphones, mixers, DSPs, amplifiers, and speaker systems.
  • Video Systems: Experience with projectors, displays, video walls, switchers, and video conferencing systems.
  • Control Systems: Familiarity with Crestron, AMX, Extron, or Q-SYS programming and configuration.
  • Networking: Understanding of IP networking, VLANs, PoE, and AV-over-IP technologies (e.g., Dante, NDI, HDBaseT).
  • Signal Flow & Troubleshooting: Ability to trace and resolve signal path issues across AV systems.
  • CAD & Schematics: Ability to read and sometimes create AV system diagrams and rack elevations.
  • Ability to review and configure Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements associated with A/V hardware.

Hands-On Experience

  • System Integration: Installing, configuring, and testing AV systems in conference rooms, auditoriums, or event spaces.
  • Live Event Support: Running AV for live meetings, webinars, or hybrid events.
  • Maintenance & Upgrades: Performing firmware updates, system checks, and hardware replacements.

Soft Skills

  • Problem Solving: Quick thinking and calm under pressure when AV issues arise.
  • Communication: Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Project Management: Coordinating with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Customer Service: Providing support with a user-first mindset.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • U. S. Citizenship required.
  • Must have an active Top-Secret with SCI clearance.
