Maxar Space is seeking an Accounting and FP&A Analyst to work within our Financial Planning and Reporting Department in our offices in Palo Alto, CA. This position, which may also be performed remotely within the U.S., will provide financial analysis for Maxar Space as well as support day-to-day accounting and financial planning processes including budgeting, journal entries and account reconciliations, monthly reporting and variance analysis. This position will be expected to significantly contribute to process improvements and data automation with Excel and other tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Rebuild and improve existing Excel Workbooks to improve time requirements for data comparison and analysis
  • Perform monthly variance analysis using these tools
  • Prepare and key recurring journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, always looking for improvement in efficiency and accuracy
  • Provide metrics to support decision making
  • Support the monthly/quarterly financial reporting cycle for both management and equity owner reporting
  • Ensure adequate internal controls are performed
  • Build knowledge of Maxar's business, to become key financial business partner to Maxar organizations.
  • Translate and interpret financial data into operational recommendations to improve and accelerate the business
  • Assess the risks and opportunities of the forecasted plan to ensure accuracy of reporting of financial metrics; especially Revenue, Margin and Cash
  • Support preparation of Annual Operating Plan (AOP); Strategic Growth Plan (SGP)
  • Provide ad hoc financial modeling and financial analysis
  • Support special projects and process improvements within Accounting and FP&A

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • BS in Finance/Accounting or related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
  • 5 years of overall work experience, including experience in an Analyst role with emphasis on FP&A and Accounting or Audit
  • Advanced Excel skills, including X-lookups, pivot tables, tagging

Preferred Requirements:

  • MBA
  • Government Program finance experience
  • Job-based Costing
  • Percentage of Completion Revenue recognition
  • SAP experience
  • Superior analytical skills, combined with excellent business judgment and strong ability to clearly and concisely communicate with management level personnel
  • Active team player and works well under pressure
  • Self-directed and pro-active individual with a curious mindset. Not afraid to ask questions!
  • Organized, detail oriented individual with ability to multi-task, maintain accuracy of information, and drive closure
  • Integrity with confidential information
  • Creativity in solving complex problems
  • Ability to work independently in support of team objectives

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

* The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $74,000.00 - $122,000.00 annually. * The base pay for this position within New Jersey is: $74,000.00 - $122,000.00 annually. * The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $81,000.00 - $135,000.00 annually. * The base pay for this position within California is: $85,000.00 - $141,000.00 annually.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
