Position Title: Database Administrator Position Summary: We are looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team in the manufacturing industry. This entry-level role offers a unique opportunity to support secure database management in compliance with CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) Level 2 requirements. The Level 1 DBA will assist in maintaining, monitoring, and securing our database systems while ensuring they meet stringent federal security standards including NIST 800-171, ITAR, and DFARS. You will gain valuable experience in database administration, compliance, and cybersecurity practices tailored to federal regulations and the defense contracting industry. Reports To: Director of IT. - Database Management & Security:
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and ongoing management of databases in compliance with CMMC Level 2 requirements.
- Help secure database systems by adhering to data encryption, access control, and audit trail protocols as per federal standards.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide recommendations for optimizing system health, security, and compliance.
- CMMC & Federal Security Compliance:
- Participate in maintaining compliance with CMMC Level 2, focusing on security controls such as access control, incident response, system and communications protection, and media protection.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports for CMMC and NIST 800-171 compliance.
- Support implementation of cybersecurity practices that align with federal regulations to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Ensure regular database backups and disaster recovery procedures are in place, monitored, and tested to meet federal compliance standards.
- Assist in executing secure data restores, following defined security protocols, in case of failure or breach events.
- Access Control & Data Integrity:
- Help enforce role-based access controls (RBAC) and least-privilege access policies to protect sensitive manufacturing and defense-related data.
- Work with senior staff to implement data integrity checks and automated reporting for compliance verification.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed logs and documentation of database configurations, security patches, and audit trails.
- Support team members in preparing for CMMC assessments and ensuring that databases are aligned with the required cybersecurity controls.
Job Qualification Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in IT support or database-related roles (internships or academic labs may be considered).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to secure database practices within a manufacturing, defense, or aerospace environment.
- Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Familiarity with compliance tools and auditing processes for CMMC or NIST 800-171.
- Certification in COMPTIA Security+, CMMC Fundamentals, or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
Technical Skills:
- Basic SQL query writing and an understanding of relational database concepts.
- Familiarity with database systems such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar.
- Exposure to Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems.
- Experience with Oracle/RHEL Linux x86 and x64
- Experience with Power BI report development, managing Power BI Premium Workspaces
- Basic understanding of CMMC Level 2 controls and federal cybersecurity standards (training provided as needed).
Security & Compliance:
- Basic understanding of CMMC Level 2, NIST 800-171, ITAR, and DFARS compliance (training provided).
- Ability to adhere to strict physical and logical access controls, and secure sensitive data

Physical Demands - The employee is required to:
- Have ambulatory ability for navigating manufacturing areas and other spaces safely
- Exert 10 to 25 pounds of force occasionally to move objects
- Have ability to travel internationally
Working Conditions - The employee is normally in a general office setting with typical moderate noise levels in a temperature-controlled environment. Operates office equipment (computer, fax, copier, phone) as required to perform essential job functions. The employee is occasionally subject to:
- high noise levels from operating machines
- physical hazards from moving equipment and production components
- breathing fumes, dust and mist
- potential skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids.
