Job Title: Field Engineer Tech Electrical 1st Location: Pascagoula, Mississippi General Function The Field Engineer Tech Electrical 1st performs engineering-related support functions within the production environment, acting as a liaison between the engineering department and the production plant. The position is responsible for providing technical guidance, producing field documentation, and supporting the implementation of engineering changes on the shop floor. Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute field engineering activities to support the production process.
- Provide production teams and crafts with technical information and clarification as needed.
- Draft and document design changes or revisions for approval by the Field Engineer Manager.
- Identify material requirements associated with design changes, outfitting/fitting adjustments, and assess potential impact on scope.
- Collaborate with production crafts to review and resolve outfitting or fitting issues.
- Address and resolve straightforward production challenges in coordination with appropriate teams.
- Make engineering decisions on the deck plate in coordination with the functional engineering group.
- Ship check areas on the vessel, able to get in tight areas, crawl, climb or enter manholes
- Generate field sketches and prepare material lists by way of YEC (Yard Engineering Change); FECN (Field Engineering Change Notice) for review by Field Engineer Manager.
- Able to provide basic calculations in disciplined area to support resolution
- Collaborate with craft personnel to assess and resolve outfitting/fitting issues.
- Identify and resolve production-related engineering problems to support project timelines and quality standards.
- Able to perform and produce resolution with minimal supervision
- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations and certifications with SUPSHIP, Coast Guard and ABS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Solid understanding of shipyard production processes and how they relate to engineering deliverables.
- Familiarity with organizational policies, procedures, and standard practices.
- Ability to set and achieve goals while maintaining positive working relationships with team members across various departments.
- Strong technical communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and creating field-level documentation.
- Ability to establish priorities, meet goals, and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Must be knowledgeable or have cognizance in Shipconstructor/AutoCAD, NAVIS, SharePoint.
- Microsoft Platform: Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint
- 3 or more years of experience in crafts/production related to the marine industry. One or more years of drafting experience related to production or equivalent combination of experience and training, which results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- One (1) or more years of drafting experience related to production, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
