Seeking Histology Technicians to perform all routine procedures in orienting, sectioning, and staining tissue specimens to produce slides which will aid pathologists in diagnosis requires teamwork to achieve common goals and meet deadlines to provide quality care to clients and patients. Additionally, one needs to understand the complex special procedures, techniques, principles, and theory and may support the supervisor in running the day-to-day operations of the histology department. Depending on acquired HT/HTL ASCP certification and relevant expereince will determine level.

Schedule: On-call

You Will:

  • Embed, cut, and stain tissue blocks according to designated procedures
  • Maintain productivity standards: microtomy 20 blocks/hour and embedding 50 blocks/hour
  • Prepare reagents and stains according to designated procedures
  • Submit derms and one-steppers
  • Provide backup for Grossing Tech when needed
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of current CAP requirements
  • Assist in maintaining equipment, instruments, and supplies as needed
  • Perform or assist with advanced staining
  • Perform or assist with validation studies
  • Assist in operational oversight
  • Perform or assist with validation studies
  • Assist in operational oversight
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Certifications

  • Undergrad degree in science [24 (mix of chem and bio) science credits with a minimum total of 60 college credits]

OR

  • HT/HTL ASCP certification, highly preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Without, a HT/HTL ASCP cert, minimum two years of histolgoy laboratory experience required
  • Proof of on the job histology training also required, if without ASCP certification
  • Prefer 4+ years in embedding, microtome, and or cutting expereince
  • Knowledge in medical terminology
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Pay Range: $25.67 - $040.10USD Hourly

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Generally, new hire offers will be between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range, depending on experience (DOE), with the ability to grow within the range over time.
