Senior Logistics Specialist
Location: Washington, DC
Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
Education Requirement: Master's degree in Logistics or a related field preferred
Experience Requirement: 10-15 years of logistics experience, or equivalent combination of experience and advanced education

Position Summary:
Sayres Defense is seeking a highly experienced Senior Logistics Specialist to lead and coordinate complex logistics activities in support of ships and related defense programs. This role ensures the effective and economical acquisition, delivery, and sustainment of goods and services throughout the entire product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in DoD logistics systems, acquisition logistics, and supply support, including working knowledge of DoD 5000 series processes and Middle Tier Acquisition.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Oversee and coordinate logistics program activities to ensure effective and cost-efficient support for goods and services.



  • Ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and labor at optimal cost and quality.



  • Serve as the logistics liaison for subcontractors, suppliers, internal management, and Navy stakeholders.



  • Work directly with the ship force and program office to address training and supply issues.



  • Analyze contractual obligations, design changes, customer specifications, and operational requirements to develop logistics strategies from concept to full life-cycle support.



  • Lead logistics planning activities, resolve field and production logistics challenges, and ensure program commitments are met.



  • Develop logistics documentation including handbooks, bulletins, technical data, and information systems.



  • Perform standardization and part interchangeability analysis to streamline support operations.



  • Evaluate and address operational logistics challenges related to geography, environment, and human factors.



  • Apply data analytics and computer-based tools to simulate, model, and document logistics processes and support plans.




Required Qualifications:




  • Master's degree in Logistics or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)



  • 10-15 years of relevant logistics experience, ideally in a DoD acquisition environment



  • Experience with DoD/DoN policies and procedures, including the DoD 5000 process and Middle Tier Acquisition



  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale defense logistics programs



  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance
