At WES, we are dedicated to providing mitigation and conservation solutions across the United States. Established in 2006, WES has conserved over 30,000 acres of habitat for the benefit of over 50 federally or state protected plants and animals. To reach our conservation goals, WES collaborates with private landowners, businesses, nonprofits including land trust organizations, and government entities. We have an exciting internship opportunity for a Marketing internship to support us from August and potentially through the 2026 school calendar year.

The Marketing Intern supports the marketing team in a variety of roles- including creating content for social media accounts, web content, sales and marketing collateral. This role will also support our social media and email campaigns. This is a part time (15-19 hours per week) in person role in our Sacramento, CA office. We will work with school class schedules with hours worked at some point during Monday-Friday hours.

Duties include the following:

  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather stories and updates.
  2. Assist in creating content for social media, newsletters, web pages, and printed materials.
  3. Capture or work with staff to get high-quality photos and videos of habitats, fieldwork, and staff at mitigation sites to showcase WES's conservation impact.
  4. Participate in brainstorming sessions for upcoming campaigns and outreach opportunities.
  5. Help coordinate logistics and materials for events, conference booths, or field days.
  6. Support the marketing team with administrative tasks such as organizing photo libraries, maintaining content folders, and updating marketing calendars.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  1. High school diploma and current college student or recent graduate with a BA or progress towards a BA in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design.
  2. Interest or college level coursework in environmental studies, biology, ecology or natural sciences highly preferred.
  3. Basic to intermediate knowledge of Adobe creative suite.
  4. Prior experience editing videos for youtube or other social media.
  5. Knowledge of social media strategies.
  6. Excellent written communication skills.
  7. Ability to work in person in our Sacramento, CA office 15-19 hours per week.

Pay is $20-22 per hour
