You Will

COMMUNITY DESCRIPTION

The Council Partnership Office, reporting to the Chief Experience Officer (CXO), drives movement wide sustainable growth and health through implementation of strategic priorities in an aligned network. The team builds strong relationships and creates empowering ways of working between and among GSUSA and council leadership to ensure movement wide collaboration, trust and success. The team ensures GSUSA is offering excellent communications and customer service to councils.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Sr VP, Council Partnership, the Director, Council Finance provides all financial oversight, analysis, and reporting of council financial data for purposes of GSUSA risk assessment and performance analysis.

In addition, they partner with Council Partnership Advisors and VP, Strategic Finance on the finance team to drive strategic direction for council financial innovative planning and forecasting to drive improvements in council future financial and business performance. This role demands a strategic thinking orientation and an innovative mindset, paired with a thorough understanding of GSUSA and councils' various business models.

The incumbent will need to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, an ability to apply contemporary leading practices to financial operations.

Essential Responsibilities

Play key leadership role in development and execution of council capacity building strategy.

    Build out and test efficacy of financial assumptions for council capacity building criteria (minimum budget, reserves, cost to serve, differences by geographic and size differences)
  • Establish financial baseline assumptions for council capacity building pilots and provide ongoing analysis of accuracy of assumptions over time
  • Provide recommended future state guidelines of financial criteria and readiness for capacity building based on pilot findings

Provide financial expertise to Product Line and Operating Model initiative team

  • Partner with Business Lead and Strategic Finance VP to provide financial analysis using data from councils' adoption of product line financial analysis methodology
  • Develop financial best practice standards (expense allocation and revenue streams) for cost to serve by product line

Provide financial expertise to the Shared Services initiative team

  • Collaborate with Finance and Procurement to analyze the financial impact of shared service offerings on council financial performance
  • Participate in shared service contract negotiations and selection process
  • Provide financial expertise on other Movement Strategy/Vision 2030 initiatives
  • Provide financial input into Vision 2030 'council of future' for existing product lines and future strategic initiatives adoption
  • Inform 'simplified membership registration' pricing strategy for bundled pricing informed by product line findings

Partner with Senior Director Council Partnership on all council financial reporting and analysis.

  • Provide oversight of collection and analysis of 990s, audits and other financial reporting required by Blue Book policies and procedures

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

The Individual Contributor is regarded as the highest level of very experienced subject matter expert with high credibility and who is perceived outside the organization as an authority in a complex scientific or professional field.

In partnership with the Council Partnership team, drive meaningful & frequent dialogue with Council Finance leadership in the interest of engendering a community of practice centered on long-term movement financial stability.

Involves sharing of best practices, identification of opportunities to better support councils, process standardization, reporting opportunities and development of cost optimization strategies.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

Office 365 or similar suites

Competency in PowerPoint or similar presentation software

Competency in Microsoft Excel or similar software

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (i.e., degrees, certifications)

Degree or Equivalent Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Years of Experience: Minimum of five (5) years' experience in corporate environment

SALARY RANGE: $85,000-$140,000

This represents the present low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
