Compensation Analyst

Your Role: Our Compensation Analyst will support the Compensation area in delivering accurate and timely compensation data and services, including job analyses, internal equity reviews, salary surveys, and market pricing, as well as administering programs such as the merit cycle and annual incentives.

Essential Job Duties

  • Analyze jobs, conduct job evaluations, and benchmark positions against the job market. Analyze, report and provide recommendations on internal equity reviews, and conduct related regulatory audits. Meet with managers and HR staff to walk through analysis. Create new job classifications/families consistent with the emerging needs of the Port. Provide reporting on all associated compensation programs.
  • Support the annual merit cycle by maintaining documentation, preparing training materials, tracking timelines, and providing logistical and administrative support. Coordinate with HR Systems Analyst and HRIS Coordinator on data accuracy and system needs.
  • Responsible for the Port's library of compensation salary surveys, including reviews of the current surveys, exploring alternative sources to remain market competitive. Verify match information with managers, as needed, to ensure appropriate submission of Port data. Compile information for input to our on-going survey library, in addition to reviewing and responding to a high level of ad hoc requests for data from outside organizations. Manage the market pricing data and application for accuracy.
  • Administer the annual incentive plan process. Under general direction, collaborate with HR and Finance Directors on program design, employee training, and general communications. Complete the payout analysis and collaborate with accounting and finance to deliver preliminary and final accruals for audit and year-end close purposes. Coordinate with payroll and distribution on processing and delivering payouts and employee statements. Provide analysis on the Port's recognition program and recommend actions to enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Respond to routine compensation-related inquiries and assist in documenting standard procedures. Provide data analysis and reporting support to the compensation function and the broader HR Team.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience required for this role.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field. (Additional experience may substitute for the education qualifications.)
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' dedicated experience in related compensation administration.
  • License and/or Certification: (Preferred, not required) Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR)

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities

  • General knowledge of compensation principles and employment regulations.
  • Conduct analysis, draw conclusions, and formulate recommendations within established program parameters.
  • Excellent communication skills, including documentation of program and systems-related issues and their resolution; excellent oral communication skills and outstanding teamwork behavioral skill set.
  • Manage several projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Prioritize, evaluate, and make judgments on compensation issues.
  • Provide excellent customer service to employees.

Working Conditions

We offer a flexible hybrid schedule that combines work-life balance with team collaboration. You'll be in the office Tuesday through Thursday to engage with colleagues and support our business lines, with the flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays.

Compensation

Our organization adheres to established salary ranges for each position to ensure equitable pay practices. However, final offers are determined based on various factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and considerations of internal pay equity.


Supplemental and Selection Information

SELECTION PROCESS (tentative schedule):

  1. A minimum qualification evaluation of the education, training, and experience of submitted application packets will take place by Human Resources continually up to the date of the position's closure.

  2. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials, including any responses to the supplemental questionnaire.

  3. Our goal is to schedule panel interviews with candidates that successfully passed the SME evaluation as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be notified after interviews are complete, with a tentative start date in August 2025.
