Bio-Rad has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Technical Accounting & Reporting, based at our Hercules, CA headquarters. Reporting directly to the VP Corporate Controller, you will shape Bio-Rad's technical accounting policies and documentation and lead all SEC reporting functions. We are on the lookout for an innovative, growth-driven leader with profound expertise in Technical Accounting and Reporting, ready to make a significant impact!

How You'll Make An Impact:

In this role, you will ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, manage 10-Q and 10-K filings, coordinate with external auditors, and lead a cross-functional team for financial disclosures. You'll be the company's technical accounting expert, prepare audit committee materials, handle selected SOX 404 internal controls, and manage the Workiva platform. You will manage 2 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Responsible for ensuring fair presentation of the company's financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP. Duties include preparation and filing the 10-Q and 10-K reports, supporting disclosures, coordinating with external auditors on technical accounting matters including external filings, review of valuations, and preparing and reviewing technical accounting memos. Additionally, this position oversees a cross-functional team to update the MD&A section, and present the 10-Q, 10-K, and other technical reports to the CEO and CFO.

  • Serve as the company's technical accounting expert including evaluating business proposals and contracts for key finance & accounting executives & management. You will ensure proper application of US GAAP, including developing and leading training and education sessions.

  • Lead global implementation of new accounting standards and monitor emerging accounting standards during the exposure draft period to interpret impact to Bio-Rad.

  • Collaborate with Controllership members to evaluate, maintain, and update policies in the accounting manual.

  • Prepare materials for the audit committee and present accounting for unusual events.

  • Build, lead, coach, inspire and develop a high-performing team dedicated to providing Bio-Rad with timely and accurate technical accounting support.


Additional Responsibilities include:



  • Conducting due diligence, with the assistance of external consultants, for potential acquisitions.
  • Providing technical accounting guidance on significant transactions related to ASC 842 (leases) and ASC 606 (revenue).
  • Managing the Workiva platform used for external reporting.
  • Overseeing projects related to potential SEC comment letters, 8-K filings, press releases, and disclosure research.


What You Bring:




  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent; CPA required.

  • Work Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience, Big 4 experience.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $199,400 to $274,100 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
