Overview

This position will be exposed to geospatial technologies and methods to support one or more aspects of the Geo-Communities initiative. Working with a small team, the primary project for this internship will be to develop a Story Map highlighting a new public-facing application using the World Terrestrial Ecosystems.

Essential Functions

Research and Project Assistance (100%)
Assist with various projects based on individual strengths, including:

* Support in research and report writing tasks
* Creation of a Story Map
* Data management and data cleanup

The Employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.

This position has been designated as eligible for flexible work profiles 1 or 2:

  • Profile 1, Office Lab-Based - is expected to work primarily on-site in the office/lab. Only occasionally and inconsistently working remotely. Your office will be located in Blegen Hall.
  • Profile 2, Regularly Remote - is expected to work in the office/lab at least 3 days per week. Typically working remotely 1-2 days per week. Your office will be located in Blegen Hall.
Qualifications

Qualifications

Required
* Demonstrated interpersonal, presentation, facilitation, and communication skills
* HS Degree or Equivalent

Preferred
* Understanding of spatial thinking concepts
* Working knowledge of Esri's ArcGIS platform
* Strong writing skills

Geo-Communities (GC) uses research and mapping to improve the health, equity, and prosperity of people around the world. This program leverages the power of academic research to address the problems of local communities, helping them build upon their cultural and geographical assets, and to connect them to others facing similar challenges across the globe, sharing information and best practices. GC works in communities ranging from Minnesota, USA to Kerala, India.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $17.00 per hour, depending on education/qualifications/experience.
