Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking a Marketing Events Specialist to join the Marketing Department in our Chicago office. The Marketing Events Specialist is responsible for supporting the Firm's client facing, community, and internal/special events (both in-person and virtual). The role requires travel within the United States to support client events at key industry conferences, and the development of strong and effective working relationships within the Marketing Department, as well as with other professional business functions and lawyers across the Firm. The position requires an in-office presence in the Chicago office but includes flexibility for some remote work. The responsibilities of the Marketing Events Specialist will include: Client Facing and Community/Special Events:
- Support all aspects of client facing, community, and internal/special events, including preparing event budgeting and after event reporting, negotiating event contracts, invitation and attendee communications, event set-up and logistics, and on-site support. Present new event ideas and opportunities for Firm visibility.
- Alongside business development colleagues and key event stakeholders, conduct event intake calls to collect details about event objectives, recommend event format/virtual platform, document and communicate event deliverables, establish event milestones/timelines, and ensure efficient project management with adherence to timeline and budget.
- Support research, selection, and contract negotiation with event venues and suppliers. Manage relationships with vendors to control costs and maintain excellent service standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders in support of client facing training and continuing legal educational programs, including on-site trainings, teach-ins, and virtual programming.
- Support the development and maintenance of database of venues, vendors, and other external relationships for use by attorneys and other internal stakeholders.
- Support giveaway (trinket) selection and supply related to conferences and client visits/milestones.
E-Communications Platform:
- Send communications and oversee campaigns via the Firm's e-communication/marketing campaign platform (Eloqua).
- Support data quality management for the Firm's client and alumni relationship mailing list database (CRM) and website subscriptions.
- Assist with mailing list uploads to e-communication campaign platform, processing and notification of email bounces and unsubscribes, and website sign-ups.
Social Media:
- Prepare social media messaging and select imagery that promotes the Firm's events and community engagement.
Other:
- Monitor competitors to assess relevant trends and best practices and generate ideas for enhancing client experience and leveraging event engagement to advance the Firm's goals.
- Stay abreast of new developments related to event planning best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Training/Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree; CMP is preferred, but not required
- Minimum of five years of relevant event planning experience, preferably in a legal or professional services firm
- Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative and able to operate with limited day-to-day direction and demonstrate a high level of independent professional judgment
- Organized, diligent, effectively manage numerous competing priorities, and follows through with commitments
- Team-first orientation, ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines with shifting priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to engage credibly and effectively with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
- Strong customer service skills, able to anticipate needs and exercise good judgment
- Strong attention to detail while multi-tasking projects

Technical Skills:
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products and CRM systems
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
In accordance with the Illinois Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Illinois position is between $80,000 - $95,000.
