The Sculpture Tech Specialist will work closely with the Sculpture Dimensional Studies (SDS) Division faculty to develop and maintain facilitiesand equipment as it relates to programming in the SDS Division.
Salary: $22.55-$23.56/Hour, depending on experience. This is a 40 hour/week position. Essential Functions: This position has supervisor authority over student workers. The primary responsibilities are to support and implement efficient studio operations which involveworking with SDS faculty, technicians, students, and University staff (including Professors,Adjuncts, Graduate Teaching Assistants, Students, Work Study, Visiting Artists, other StudioTechnicians, Environmental Health and Safety, Facilities and Grounds staff). Responsibilitiesinclude research, planning and installation of new equipment, maintenance and repair of existingequipment as well as facilitating the design and fabrication of new systems to specific spaces. TheSculpture Tech Specialist will assist in the demonstration of proper and safe use of equipment tostudents and others in collaboration with Faculty. They will oversee other technical staff todevelop, and implement, safe operation of SDS facilities, use of equipment and proper handling ofmaterials (i.e; fire codes, MSDS, chemical storage and disposal, etc). Facilities of oversightinclude metal fab shop, metal casting foundry, plaster and wax working areas, fiber mixed mediastudio, sculpture galleries, sculpture classroom and Sculpture & Dimensional Studies Studio Spaces.
