Sentry is looking for an experienced security professional to join the Physical Security team as a Security Patrol Officer. In this role, you will investigate any suspicious or unusual occurrences on Sentry property and at identified locations/events, ensuring necessary reporting and follow up actions take place. You will also operate as first responder for all security, safety, and medical incidents within the building.

What You'll Do

As a Security Patrol Officer, you will:

  • Conduct armed patrols to monitor the interior and exterior of numerous premises to prevent and detect any risks to Sentry associates and property. This includes but is not limited to monitoring cameras, security systems and numerous other devices, check for tampering or damage to property and equipment, detect health and safety issues, and identify unauthorized individuals.
  • Respond to emergency situations, which, may include taking command of the scene and security team. Provide medical attention as warranted, deescalate situations by using verbal and physical tactics, apply appropriate use of force techniques in defense of self or others, give direction to the team and those nearby, escort emergency personnel through the building, and participate in communications and reporting after situations to ensure all completion.
  • Notify appropriate individuals or departments on any findings that compromise the security and protection of the property and individuals. Escalate risks appropriately based on severity, up to and including notifying local law enforcement. Investigate identified risks or issues in person or by reviewing security cameras and access control system to analyze the situation/incident, determine who/what caused it, and how it can be prevented/handled differently in the future. Provide findings and follow up with appropriate individuals to ensure proper resolution.
  • Complete incident reports regarding any irregularities, such as equipment and property damage, safety and health issues, theft, workplace violence incidents, presence of unauthorized individuals, and any other unusual occurrences to ensure proper reporting and handling all situations.
  • Collaborate with security management and senior leadership across the organization to develop and maintain onsite/offsite security plans, ensure the team is knowledgeable and trained on appropriate actions to take in an emergency. Provide close proximity security of individuals or groups at on/offsite events and residences as determined necessary under the protection program.

Additionally, you will:

  • Develops and maintain relationships with human resources and local law enforcement, ensuring the Security team is consulting and bringing them in as appropriate.
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons.
  • Provide secure courier services for various departments throughout Sentry, ensuring the safe delivery of sensitive items.
  • Collaborate with security management to identify training needs and then coordinate and lead pertinent training ensuring the team is prepared to respond appropriately to security events.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time

What it Takes

  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
  • Prior work experience in law enforcement is highly desired
  • Must have or be able to obtain valid Wisconsin Concealed Carry Permit and/or HR 218/LEOSA certification
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass annual Fit for Duty evaluation
  • Required to utilize rapid and effective judgment in responding to unusual or emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force level
