Job Description

Purpose:

This position shall report to the NDTE Engineering Manager. The candidate will be tasked with qualification and certification of NDT personnel per NAS 410, audit specific NDT method systems, and assure compliance of the method process. The Method NDT Level 3 shall also be recognized internally and externally as a technical expert in their field and shall be competent to act as a technical liaison representing PCC Schlosser.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT method as utilized by PCC Schlosser.
  2. Be capable of assuming technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff.
  3. Be capable of selecting the method and technique for a specific inspection.
  4. Be capable of preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions to customer specifications and requirements.
  5. Approve procedures for technical adequacy in the method to which they are certified.
  6. Have general knowledge of all other NDT methods and product manufacturing and inspection technologies used by PCC Schlosser.
  7. Be capable of providing or directing training, examination, and certification of personnel in the method certified to the latest revision of PCC Schlosser Quality Control procedures.
  8. Be capable of auditing outside agencies to ensure the requirements of the written practice are met.
  9. Conduct NDT for the acceptance of parts and document the results if a demonstration of proficiency in this capability was included in the practical examination.
  10. Analyzes and interpret inspection quality data, conduct research on product defects, and recommend modification in products or quality standards, where such appear to be warranted by:
  • Recognizing manufacturing processes likely to introduce discontinuities.
  • Recognizing manufacturing processes likely to impair the performance of NDT.
  • Defining the most appropriate stage in the manufacturing sequence to perform NDT.
  1. Provide guidance and expertise to sales, engineering and manufacturing on NDT issues with regards to customer inquiries.
  2. Perform system audits on the assigned NDT method campuses and annexes.
  3. Assist in the development of new NDT process and procedures with regards to new technology and customer approval
  4. Develop new inspection methods and/or programs that promote cost reduction activities.

Required Experience

Qualifications:

  • Pass a visual acuity test as required by NAS 410.
  • Degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years aerospace and investment casting experience.
  • Certified, or certifiable within 120 days, in the specific NDT method.
  • Must have excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint computer programs.
  • Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills.
