Groundskeeper Equipment Technician Day Shift

As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Groundskeeper - Equipment Technician who will promote Marian University's Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by working closely with the Landscape Manager to maintain the beauty of the university grounds and outdoor spaces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan Intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
• Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on all equipment and tools as needed and assigned (trucks,grounds Gators, golf carts, mowers, blowers, etc.)
• Must report any malfunctions or defects immediately to manager
• Operate several different kinds of equipment including power mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, sprayers, small tractors, power washers and gators.
• Must be able to operate trucks, tractors and all attachments used to maintain the grounds as needed
• Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
• Also perform tasks such as planting, mowing, weeding, fertilizing, sweeping, raking, salting, shoveling snow, removing ice, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certifications of small engine repair
• Must have and be able to maintain a valid Indiana Driver's License without restrictions.
• Previous experience in grounds keeping/horticulture required
• Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
• Working knowledge of grounds keeping principals and power landscape equipment
• Must be able to adhere to safety procedures to do physical risks
