As Atlanta Braves Beat Reporter, you will be the main point of contact for all news, information and communication with the Atlanta Braves and Major League Baseball. As Braves news is year-round, this person will need to build a coverage plan for not only during the season, but during the off-season as well. To be successful, this reporter will need to differentiate your coverage in a crowded market. A key part of this job is to be the main point of contact with Atlanta Braves players, management and team executives.

Duties of this role include:

  • Lead the coverage of Atlanta Braves and Major League Baseball news through thoughtful, informed and authoritative content creation
  • Maintain a weekly content plan, all year long with Sr. Editor of Pro Sports
  • Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with key team and league personnel to tell unique and distinctive stories
  • Work with Sr. Editor, Pro Sports on a travel schedule and focus on coordinating coverage, whether at the game location or elsewhere
  • Participate in podcasts, vodcasts or radio interviews when needed
  • Maintain expenses and submit monthly expense report
  • Work with Sr. Editor, Pro Sports and Head of Sports on ideas to differentiate our coverage from others
  • Work with Sr. Editor, Pro Sports on spring training coverage plan.
  • Understand how the metrics allow our company to achieve our goals. When needed, use metrics to make informed decisions on coverage.


Education and Skills

  • Bachelors degree (preferably in journalism) and 4+ years working in media organization. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years' experience in a related field.
  • Prior sports reporting necessary and prior MLB coverage preferred
  • Experience working with digital media and multi-media
  • Minimum of 3 years in digital media. A combination of traditional media and digital media preferred
  • Prior podcast or video experience a plus
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Prior work with CMS and ability to learn new technologies
  • Above average interpersonal skills to interact with players and team executives


USD 72,200.00 - 108,200.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $72,200.00 - $108,200.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
