We are currently looking for a Senior User Experience (UX) Designer to support our contract with the DRAID CDAO ADA IR Program.
As a User Experience (UX) Designer, you will support the delivery of human-centered digital solutions across the CDAO ADA IR program. This role is part of a cross-functional team that includes project managers, engineers, data scientists, and technical stakeholders working at the intersection of AI, analytics, and defense. As a UX Designer, you will help shape intuitive, accessible, and mission-aligned user experiences through research, ideation, prototyping, and iteration.
You will contribute to the creation of customer journey maps, user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and usability testing plans. Your work will bridge strategy and execution, turning complex user needs into scalable digital products that support data-driven decision-making within the Department of Defense. Familiarity with AI tools, data platforms, or emerging technologies is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities/Duties:
Objective 1: Contribute to Research and Discovery Activities
Participate in discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, and workshops to explore user needs and problem spaces.
Assist in defining and documenting user requirements using human-centered design methods.
Support collaborative research planning and data gathering that aligns with mission workflows and constraints.
Contribute to the definition of user-centered strategies for cloud-based, data-focused applications used by DoD stakeholders.
Objective 2: Support Synthesis and Insight Generation
Assist in analyzing qualitative and quantitative research findings to surface patterns, pain points, and opportunities.
Participate in mapping exercises such as user journeys, service blueprints, and workflow diagrams to visualize insights.
Contribute to usability testing efforts, including test design, facilitation, and synthesis of results.
Support continuous iteration of digital products based on feedback from users, mission partners, and system stakeholders.
Objective 3: Translate Concepts into Prototypes and UX Deliverables
Create UX artifacts such as low- to high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, site maps, and process flows.
Collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers to ensure technical feasibility and implementation clarity.
Present concepts and design rationale to internal and external stakeholders, incorporating feedback to strengthen outcomes.
Assist in documenting user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria in alignment with agile workflows.
Objective 4: Collaborate Across Teams to Drive Mission-Aligned Solutions
Work as an embedded UX contributor within agile product teams focused on delivering AI-enabled, data-centric tools.
Engage in sprint ceremonies, backlog grooming, and design reviews to ensure UX is integrated into iterative development.
Promote accessibility, plain language, and responsive design standards in all UX work.
Contribute to Agile Defense's growing design practice by sharing insights, tools, and best practices with peers.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
* Familiarity with Figma, Miro, or similar tools for design, collaboration, and prototyping.
* Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508, WCAG) and design principles.
* Ability to synthesize research into design recommendations that align with business and mission goals.
* Experience designing technical or data-heavy applications is a plus.
* Exposure to AI/ML tools or workflows is preferred but not required.
