Seattle's Brand Design team is a collaborative group of designers, and storytellers passionate about helping clients tell their unique stories through spatial design, brand strategy, and environmental graphics. Your Role

As part of Gensler's larger Brand Design practice, our Seattle studio embodies the firm's values of being client-first, diverse, exploratory, and sustainability-minded. We're a fun and talented team committed to shaping design that enhances our clients' brand expression and business performance.

We are currently seeking an Environmental Graphic Designer to join our multidisciplinary studio. This role is best suited for a designer who is adept at developing compelling upfront design concepts, environmental graphics, and experiential identities for physical spaces. You'll be expected to think conceptually and strategically while also bringing strong technical skills to carry your work through to final production.

What You Will Do

  • As an Environmental Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for the design of a wide variety of graphics, branded environment, signage, and way-finding projects

  • You will work as a key partner on fast-paced interdisciplinary teams of architects, interior designers, graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, and more that deliver projects ranging from strategic planning to corporate and retail interiors

  • You will deliver creative solutions in a diverse range of markets including senior living/residential, aviation, sports, workplace, and retail

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Visual Communication, or a related field

  • 6+ years of directly relevant professional experience in Environmental Graphic Design (EGD), Signage Design, or Wayfinding

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a variety of creative approaches and fully realized, produced projects across signage, wayfinding, brand, and experiential design

  • Proven ability to translate brand identity into impactful, three-dimensional environments across a range of mediums

  • Skilled at developing detailed message schedules, location plans, and scaled drawings based on architectural construction documents

  • Comfortable working with architectural documentation including elevations, plans, and shop drawings

  • Strong planning and strategy skills in wayfinding-including site surveys, research, conceptual development, and documentation

  • Deep understanding of materiality, fabrication, and quality control throughout the design and production process

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal design teams

  • Comfortable serving as a point of contact and collaborating across disciplines with architects and interior designers

  • Up to date on emerging design trends, materials, and technologies with a desire to contribute and share with the team

  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment

  • Committed to sustainable design and building practices. Candidates should be able to speak to at least one built project with a sustainability focus-such as LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL, Fitwel, or Net Zero certification.

Technical Proficiency

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), CAD Tools, and Microsoft Office

  • Comfortable drawing at scale and producing polished, technical documentation

  • Experience with shop drawing reviews and QA/QC processes

Additional Skills

  • Experience with Revit, SketchUp, After Effects, and Adobe Premiere

  • Strong understanding of print and production processes, as well as vendor management

  • Hands-on knowledge of materials and fabrication/construction within built environments

  • Illustration and typography expertise

*The base salary will be estimated between $85,250 - $110,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
