Job Summary:

The Technical Consultant (TC) drives completion of surveys and sales opportunities in conjunction with the Account Teams with a focus on Ethernet Services, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), and Private Networking Solutions. This role will also support Voice solutions, including Digital Trunking, Hosted Voice, Unified Communications (UC), and SD-WAN. The TC will provide consultative pre-sales technical support, working on account teams to develop proposals and recommend solutions to meet customer business requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

The Technical Consultant will provide survey processing, project coordination, and technical support to commercial account teams developing designs to meet customer business and technical requirements. The TC will also work with our internal engineering, product, and other boundary partners to drive solutions and ICB design requests.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Review customer transactional requests, create and document solutions
  • Ensure complete and accurate survey documentation and customer proposals
  • Manage technical solutions for internal teams and enter details into the company CRM system
  • Maintain accurate data entry and task management for resourcing quotes from Boundary Partners
  • Maintain Task and Survey intervals with the account teams
  • Accurately complete surveys and Scope of Work documents based on feedback from Sales Engineers and Boundary Partners
  • Creation and assignment of Tasks and Surveys for Sales Engineering and Boundary partners
  • Manage data quality and completeness in the company CRM system, adhering to required processes and workflows
  • Assist Sale Engineering teams to manage survey intervals and responses to Sales Team
  • Maintain status reports, meeting notes, and customer contact information
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Desired Skill and Experience



  • Previous Telecommunications or Cable MSO commercial services experience with customer data and voice solutions
  • An understanding of the customer sales cycle, with an ability to collaborate with Account Managers, customers, and other functional groups as necessary utilizing the following technologies would be beneficial:
  • MAN/WAN technologies including Carrier Ethernet, IP-VPN/MPLS, Wavelength and SONET
  • IP Transit, Peering, TCP/IP, Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), DOCSIS and PON
  • Layer 1 Access Networks (Optical, Hybrid Fiber Coaxial, Twisted Pair Copper)
  • Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking and protocols (Switching, VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol, Routing protocols, and Security)
  • Voice networking technologies including VoIP, SIP, TDM, and Hosted PBX
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, detail oriented with excellent follow up
  • Previous experience working with CRM, responding to RFI's/RFP's, and creating detailed network design documentation
  • Ability to manage a complex list of tasks and deliverable dates
  • Ability to integrate into an account team structure and participate as a member of that team
  • Ability to anticipate and quickly react to changes in a fast-paced environment and to handle ambiguity.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects and meet deliverable timelines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, and other tools


Job Experience



  • Minimum 1-4 years experience supporting telecommunications services to Enterprise accounts or a combination with Enterprise IT experience
  • Must have a proven track record of building, executing technical solutions and sales strategies to penetrate, close, and manage Enterprise accounts
  • Proven, deep-level expertise in at least one of Astound's products and/or services
  • Experience in strategic account positioning with Executive level engagement
  • Astound offers a hybrid work environment. Applicants should reside in the indicated territory with the expectation to attend customer and account team meetings as required


Education and Certifications



  • Bachelor's degree preferred with a concentration in telecommunications, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent directly applicable experience

The base salary range in Massachusetts, New York, and Maryland for this position is $65,000-$90,000, opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities. It is specific to Washington, California, Oregon, Massachusetts, New York, Maryland and Illinois and may not be applicable to other locations.
