Under general supervision, the park ranger is the first level classification in the Park Ranger/Senior Park Ranger series. Park Rangers will provide information to park users, report problems to the appropriate agency and manage group activities on weekends and holidays in City parks. The Park Ranger will assist local law enforcement agencies with the enforcement of City policies and municipal codes at various parks while also providing education to park users on standards for safety, civility, and cleanliness in park usage. The Park Ranger is a part-time, year-round position, and requires up to approximately 20-hours per week. The Park Ranger program will be scheduled around peak use times that often include afternoon, evenings, and weekend hours.
Knowledge & Education
- General principles and practices of park patrol and security, City of Corona and Community Services policies and procedures, regulations, codes and ordinances as they relate to park usage; and safe work practices.
- Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have completed 12th grade or equivalent GED.
Skills & Abilities
- Interpret and apply relevant regulations, policies, ordinances and procedures.
- Exercise sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines.
- Safely follow directions; take appropriate courses of action in emergencies.
- Write log entries, reports, messages; complete forms and records; maintain records and files on work performed.
Experience
- Six (6) months of experience in park and open space operations, public service, or a related field.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within 3 months of employment, a valid CPR and first aid certification, to be maintained throughout employment.
- PC 832 training must be completed within six months of employment.
- Due to the performance of field duties which will require operation of a motor vehicle, a valid California Class C Driver's License and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and through employment is required.

Applications will be accepted until Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 5:00PM. Applicants are encouraged to apply early as the recruitment may close at any time without notice. The selection process will consist of a review and evaluation of all applicants' qualifications. Those applicants deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to participate in a possible virtual HireVue and oral interview. The top scoring candidates from the oral interview will be placed on an eligibility list from which the department may hire. The eligibility list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill the current and/or additional vacancies throughout the City.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference / background check including livescan and pass a pre-employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).

THE ORGANIZATION
The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policy making and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.
The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works, and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and an Assistant City Manager.
The City's total operating budget for Fiscal Year 2026 is $422.7 million with a General Fund operating budget of $231.3 million. Corona enjoys a workforce of 935 dedicated employees who provide high-quality services to its residents and visitors each day.
