The Business Applications Analyst III provides the technical expertise necessary for the implementation and use of software technologies deployed throughout the bank. This position will be responsible for analyzing new software releases to determine their feasibility in integrating with current products and infrastructure. The IT Analyst III works directly, with software vendors and internal staff members, to prepare specifications and interface requirements of software applications. This role also solves complex problems and prepares periodic reports related to mainframe hardware utilization, end-user activities, projects, and vendor interaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maximizes operational efficiencies and leverages operating systems to their fullest extent.
  • Provides continual system operational support in the implementation of new releases and technologies.
  • Assists with and develops security as well as operational procedures for various areas of the business applications department.
  • Participates in a leading role on IT related projects as assigned by Senior and Executive Management.
  • Maintains bank software control files and parameters.
  • Performs complex updates to software applications.
  • Maintains and develops complex reporting standards necessary for management to properly evaluate system performance and integration objectives.
  • Provides end-user support, researches issues, and participates on special projects.
  • Ensures that all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures as applicable to this position, including completion of required compliance training.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, general business correspondence and/or journals or government regulations.
    • Ability to write routine reports, simple-to-business correspondence, and procedures.
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial report and/or legal documents.
    • Ability to effectively speak, respond to questions, and present information to the following: one-on-one /small groups, customers, employees, clients, managers, top management, board of directors, and the general public.

Education and/or Experience

  • BS/BA Degree (four year) from an accredited university/college AND
  • Four plus years of experience as an Application Analyst or similar role.

  • MS Office programs

Other Qualifications (including physical requirements)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and planning skills with the ability to set priorities.
  • Must possess excellent telephone and customer service skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of mid-range or mainframe computer operating systems (preferably AS400); software and workflow design preferred.
  • Must have microcomputer knowledge (use of database and Microsoft networking operating systems, documents, and spreadsheets.)
  • General banking knowledge preferred.
