About This Role

Kansas State University 's College of Agriculture seeks a detail-oriented Manager of Facilities and Operations. This position will serves as the primary point of contact for all Projects, including Agriculture Innovation Initiative capital projects, Infrastructure and operations, including facility emergencies, for property/space being planned and/or occupied by the college of Agriculture, ensure smooth operations for the College of Agriculture.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for steering process development for interdisciplinary collaboration policies as they relate to space in the new Global Center for Grain and Food Innovation
  • Serve as primary liaison between KSU Facilities, contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, the College of Agriculture Dean's Office, the Departments within the College, to facilitate building and remodeling projects.
  • In collaboration with departments and Dean's Office, solve problems related to classroom, lab, and processing/production needs during construction, renovation, and moving into the new spaces
  • Guide tours with elected officials, internal and external stakeholders, and other dignitaries
  • Essential Assist with relevant events to generate excitement and share progress with donors and stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, respond to client requests, and collaborate as necessary to ensure program and project effectiveness.
  • Communicate and update internal and external stakeholders on current and upcoming capital projects.
  • Present renovation and budget plans to appropriate college leadership as requested.
  • Collaborate with other units such as IT, Department Heads, and others regarding implementation of building occupancy
  • Ensures the effective use of building assets and make recommendations in planning, including estimating space requirements, equipment needs and requirements, and deferred and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Responsible for maintaining a basic knowledge of building systems and for cooperating with facilities in the oversight of building infrastructure including maintenance, repair, and/or modification of facilities.
  • Determine and maintain an appropriate maintenance project listing with annual timelines and budgets.
  • Address deferred maintenance priorities and timelines as necessary.
  • Advises the Dean and Director's Office on policies and procedures to govern new and existing facilities.
  • Provides thought leadership on the communications (internal and external) about the projects under construction or renovation.
  • Assists with relevant events to generate excitement and share progress with donors and stakeholders.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational skills and a service-oriented disposition.
  • Certified Facility Manager or equivalent.
  • Experience in farm, project or construction management.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently or effectively with groups and individuals.
