Plan and develop methods, procedures, and schedules to conduct a continuously improving quality process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take a leading role in the further establishment of an environment where there is a Total Quality attitude and behavior.
  • Work with the materials group on cost and inventory reduction projects.
  • Work with the materials group to streamline the flow of products into the Chambersburg Distribution Center.
  • Work with the materials group and product manager to reduce product and transactional costs.
  • Work with the materials group and product manager to improve internal processes to allow for increasing inventory turns.
  • Drafting responsibilities include support and maintenance through revising drawings and performing layout design for these product lines.
  • Preparation of product-related technical documentation and maintenance of system data.
  • Responsible for the full range of quality functions from inspection support through vendor quality management and internal manufacturing quality for these product lines.
  • Inspection and root cause analysis which includes developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods derived from CAR's and provides continuous support to the team members.
  • Vendor sample and qualification approval.
  • Implement and maintain quality procedures.
  • Interface with all departments to discuss quality-related issues.
  • Coordinate, train, and assist in internal and supplier quality audits and inspections of operational and supplier programs and processes.

  • Key knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required and not already covered in the duties and responsibilities.
  • The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • The ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. The Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Limited travel to vendors and sister companies, some overseas.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year College or University in related field or equivalent plus 1-2 years' experience in Quality and Manufacturing desired; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess a familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings
  • CAD experience required (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
