This is a/an 75% full-time equivalency (FTE) job with months off. The number of months off will be determined by the position's FTE percentage. The timing of months off will be set to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. Questions related to HR105 FTE positions should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process. This position is eligible for benefits associated with any full-time position. The salary grade and range listed in the posting is reflective of a 100% Full-time position. Full-time equivalency job offers may fall outside of the listed range due to the assigned percentage of effort.

POSITION SPECIFICS

The Career Counselor, part of the dynamic Career Services team within Student Affairs, supports students in crafting meaningful career-life plans-guiding them through the exciting process of exploring their career identity and discovering future possibilities

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that includes both remote and on-campus work. Typically, employees work remotely one to two days per week, though the specific days may vary. For any questions regarding flexible work options, please speak with the hiring manager during the interview process.

This 75% FTE position includes time off from mid-May to mid-August; HR105-related questions should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview.

Will also typically engage in the following tasks:

  • Provide individual career counseling and coaching services to undergraduate and graduate students from all academic colleges at University Park. Career meetings are conducted through brief (10-15 minute) drop-in sessions and scheduled (50-60 minute) appointments, both virtually and in person.

  • Collaborate on the development and delivery of career education programs.

  • Support the broader Career Services team at campus-wide outreach events, such as Open Houses and Career Fairs.

  • Advise students on available University career development resources.

  • Counsel and prepare students for internships and employment, including job search strategies, career exploration, resume and cover letter reviews, mock interviews, and guidance on graduate school applications.

  • Work with students to develop strategies for achieving career goals, such as securing internships, full-time employment, or admission to graduate or professional school programs.

  • Administer and interpret a wide range of vocational assessment instruments.

  • Maintain documentation to track client progress, assessment results, and goals, while ensuring confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related discipline is preferred.

  • Preference will be given to applicants possessing counseling experience (ideally in a career development context) and knowledge of career development theory, with a commitment to serving students diverse in identity and in career goals, and with a demonstrated ability to work constructively within a team environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $51,000.00 - $74,000.00.
