Job Title: Sales Manager, Atomic Simulation Software (Remote)
Location: Remote
The Opportunity:
A deep-tech software company is looking for a highly motivated and proficient Sales Manager to drive the adoption of the atomic simulation software within the semiconductor and chemical sectors.
In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in leading the entire sales cycle, from initial contact to successful closure. The ideal candidate is passionate about building and nurturing strategic client relationships, understanding complex needs in scientific and engineering workflows, and staying current with trends in materials science research and development with genuine interests.
Leveraging the power of virtual experimentation, you'll empower leading companies to accelerate discovery, optimize processes, and bring novel materials to market faster.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Account Development:
o Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to identify, target, and acquire new enterprise clients mainly within the semiconductor and chemical industries.
o Cultivate relationships, identifying opportunities for upsell and cross-sell of the software and services.
o Maintain a robust sales pipeline, accurately forecasting revenue and actively managing the sales cycle.
* Technical Sales & Consultation:
o Act as a trusted advisor to clients, deeply understanding their R&D challenges, materials science initiatives, and simulation needs.
o Collaborate closely with the internal Application Engineering team to articulate complex technical solutions and demonstrate the value proposition of software.
o Lead engaging presentations, product demonstrations, and technical discussions tailored to the scientific and engineering audiences within client R&D and application teams.
* Client R&D & Application Team Engagement:
o Establish and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including R&D Scientists, Materials Engineers, Process Engineers, and Application Engineers at client organizations.
o Possess the ability to effectively communicate with highly technical audiences, translate their research problems into actionable software solutions, and understand their workflows.
o Facilitate technical discussions between client R&D teams and our product development/application engineering teams to ensure solutions align with their evolving needs.
* Market Intelligence & Feedback:
o Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and technological advancements in atomic simulations, materials science, semiconductors, and chemicals.
o Gather client feedback and insights to contribute to product roadmap development and inform marketing strategies.
* Contract Negotiation & Management:
o Prepare compelling proposals and negotiate contracts, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
o Work cross-functionally with legal and finance teams to finalize sales agreements.
* Remote Work Excellence:
o Manage a remote sales territory effectively, utilizing virtual communication tools and best practices.
o Proactively schedule and conduct virtual meetings, maintaining high levels of engagement and productivity.
o Travel occasionally for client visits, industry conferences, and internal team meetings as required (estimated 40-50% maximum).
Qualifications:
* 5+ years of successful sales experience in high-tech software within scientific or engineering simulation, materials modeling, or EDA.
* Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Computational Chemistry, or a related scientific or engineering discipline is preferred.
* Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets in complex B2B sales cycles.
* Deep understanding of the semiconductor and/or chemical industries, including their R&D processes and materials challenges.
* Desire to understand complex technical concepts in deep-tech, atomic simulation, and the semiconductor/chemical industries, with the goal of becoming a trusted advisor rather than a deep technical expert or engineer.
* Strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly learn and articulate the value of complex scientific software. Familiarity with atomic simulation techniques (e.g., DFT, MD, MC) is a significant plus.
* Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with highly technical audiences (scientists, engineers) and business leaders.
* Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong collaboration with internal teams (Application Engineers, R&D, Marketing).
* Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and virtual communication platforms.
