Organization Summary:

Averon is a joint venture between CVS Health and Cardinal Health with a vision of transforming the landscape of biosimilars and simplifying the channel for specialty products. Our mission is: together, we will lower the cost of specialty products for our customers.

Position Summary:

The Strategy Sr. Manager will collaborate to help shape the biosimilar sourcing strategy for Averon, by conducting industry and portfolio analysis; providing innovative, creative, and strategic thinking; and managing internal and external stakeholder communications. This role primarily manages the biosimilar innovator-to-biosimilar pipeline and other identified products but also supports a wide array of ongoing and ad hoc projects and analysis both strategic and quantitative in nature. The Sr. Manager will work with Averons leadership and cross-functionally to help inform both daily biosimilar sourcing strategy and long-term decisions made by the leadership team.

Location: We are ideally targeting individuals based in Portland, Oregon (or surrounding areas), as it is our preference that this individual be willing/able to come into the office once a week to work directly with our VP/GM.

Responsibilities

Identify new revenue streams:

  • Identify and evaluate emerging revenue opportunities by analyzing market trends, customer needs, and internal data assets to inform product innovation and commercialization strategies.
  • Leverage cross-functional insights to uncover high-value data streams and align them with scalable product offerings that drive incremental revenue and competitive differentiation.
  • Develop and execute strategies to monetize proprietary data and digital assets, translating complex datasets into actionable business models and new revenue-generating initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to assess product-market fit and revenue potential of new offerings, integrating data-driven insights with strategic business objectives.

Support market intelligence and cross-departmental projects:

  • Strategic partnership: Collaborate cross-functionally and across Averon using information sources both external (e.g., earnings insights, press releases, interviews, etc.) and internal.
  • Pharma intelligence and market research: Improve and maintain repeatable solutions for providing manufacturer intelligence to the organization, prioritizing automated, self-serve approach. Monitor triggers (e.g., quarterly earnings, press releases, news reports, roadshows, completion of negotiation cycles) for information updates and own end-to-end responsibility for each kind of update.
    • Gather information from internal and external sources to update manufacturer knowledge such as IPD Analytics, Evaluate Pharma, IQVIA, Medi-Span, FDA Orange and Purple Books, and more.
    • Conduct secondary research (e.g., earnings calls and call transcripts, interviews and press releases) on manufacturers. Ensure cross-functional partners contribute information as aligned.
    • Analyze manufacturer information and extract key insights to inform Manufacturer specific strategy.
  • Formulary and market intelligence: Monitor benefit designs (e.g. formulary coverage, direct-to-health plan models) to provide the Trade Relations team with market updates on biosimilars and other identified products, supporting trade strategy and budgeting activities.
  • Respond to out-of-cycle requests: Respond to ad hoc leadership requests about manufacturers and products.
  • Executive presentations: Consolidate information into high-quality presentations or memos with meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrate the ability to tell a compelling story through impactful visuals and drafting notes for others to use within their meetings.

Manage biosimilar innovator-to-biosimilar pipeline portfolio:

  • Oversee product and supplier-level pipeline research, industry knowledge, and report generation.
  • Understand brand-to-biosimilars conversions, FDA regulatory dynamics (e.g., drug application submissions and approvals), and other market intelligence to identify pipeline opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Partner with Trade Relation colleagues to manage database (Salesforce) of pipeline information including building out clinical product deep dives in conjunction with product overviews.
  • Compile data and information from multiple sources and translate into meaningful insights and effective communication with proposals for recommended action.
  • Support research to maintain a pulse on product, supplier, regulatory, and market dynamics; understand how industry trends may impact Averon; and help develop insights for strategic action.

Qualifications

  • Background as a clinician (holding an RN, MSN or PharmD - highly preferred)
  • Ideally targeting individuals that also bring 2-5+ years of experience in the Pharmaceutical industry with expertise in (but not restricted to) strategy, competitive intelligence, market research, market access, corporate analysis, etc.
  • Experience in consulting, strategy, business development, R&D, and/or project management (a plus)
  • Demonstrated experience with competitive intelligence in the pharmaceutical sector
  • Demonstrated proficiency in creating high quality executive presentations
  • Results driven with proven ability to perform in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Strong forecasting and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment at different organizational levels and experience working with upper-level management
  • Intellectual curiosity and the hunger to be a proactive problem solver
