Role Summary

This is a crucial role for ensuring the success of the vehicle design. You will have end-to-end ownership of the high-level design and testing of the vehicle electrical systems. You will pull together mechanical, electrical, and software designs to ensure they function as a cohesive system. This is a very hands-on and wide-ranging role. You will touch everything from low-level components to entire systems and all of the wiring and software in between. Extreme curiosity and attention to detail are vital to this role.


Responsibilities

  • Interface with product management teams to define system requirements
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to develop safety-critical system designs that meet company goals for vehicle performance, cost, and driver experience.
  • Work with the manufacturing team to incorporate high-rate process requirements into the system design.
  • Own and document electrical system specifications.
  • Write verification and validation test procedures and run them on the vehicle test beds
  • Investigate hardware and software issues to identify their root cause. Develop corrective actions to prevent issue recurrence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering: Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Aerospace, or similar field
  • 5+ years of experience with design and testing of integrated hardware & software systems
  • Experience with planning, writing, and executing test procedures
  • Ability to troubleshooting sensors, actuators, and digital signals, and perform root cause analysis
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary trade studies to conclusion
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment (multimeter, power supply, oscilloscope, CANalyzer, wireshark, and other analog and digital dataloggers)
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262 or similar functional safety standards (e.g. ARP4754)
  • Ability to read wiring schematics and interact with CAD software

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California-Based Applicants: $154,000 - $221,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premium
