We are seeking to recruit a motivated and responsible individual to fill a level I Research Lab Tech position for a vascular biology lab studying molecular mechanisms related to cardiovascular diseases. The qualified candidate will be involved in studies of metabolism and inflammation as well as testing novel therapeutic effects of drugs and drug candidates. Mechanistic studies will be performed in human and mouse cells and may utilize mouse models of disease. Previous experience with mammalian cell culture, small animal models, protein and molecular biology are a plus . Other responsibilities include monitoring and coordinating lab safety issues related to chemical and biological hazards and maintaining supplies and instruments. Must be able to work occasional weekends.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Maintains mammalian cell culture.
2.Performs simple animal procedures, such as injections, drug treatment, and tissue harvesting.
3.Performs animal breeding, tagging, and genotyping, as necessary.
4.Assists in the design and modification of experimental procedures and protocols.
5.Prepares and analyzes RNA, DNA and protein samples from animal tissue or cultured cells (using methods such as real time PCR, Western blots, ELISA, enzyme assays, ELISA and FACs analysis).
6.Performs histological analysis of cell and/or animal tissue samples.
7.Maintains accurate records of all experiments, reagents, and sample storage logs.
8.Purchases appropriate laboratory supplies as needed.
9.Preserves a clean and orderly work area and contributes to routine lab maintenance.
10.Assists in other lab projects as necessary.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Science required
