The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Mental Health Screener will be responsible for screening referrals for Psychological and Psychiatric services for all Children's Specialized Hospital locations. The Screener interviews referral sources, answers questions, and obtains information to assist in determining the need for services

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Masters degree in psychology or related field, such as social work
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity and comfort with electronic medical records and MS Office suite

Preferred:

  • Familiarity and knowledge of childhood diagnoses, DSM 5, and psychological testing
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Special consideration given to candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Varied schedule, based on business needs
  • Per Diem

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member in a hospital setting committed to providing total quality management of its patient population
  • Ability to relate therapeutically with families, display cultural sensitivity, and strong sense of empathy
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Psychology Supervisor
  • Screens referrals for mental health service, determining severity and what types of services are needed
  • Assists with making referrals to community mental health programs and acute psychiatric services, as needed
  • Initiates scheduling process to schedule psychology and psychiatry services
  • Formulates and manages group therapy scheduling process
